The ubiquitous nature of technology should allow equal learning for all regardless of their situation or circumstances. Digital content and software applications have the capacity to greatly enrich the learning experience for everyone.
The Strategy
ICT is having an impact on every aspect of everyday life and it has fundamentally changed the way we communicate with each other. There are opportunities to use ICT to provide greater access to education and training and to enhance teaching and learning in schools, further and higher education and training.
This will require sustained investment in ICT and continued integration of ICT into all aspects of the curriculum . Enhanced broadband connectivity for homes, schools and other education providers across the country will also be required to take full advantage of online education services and digital content.
What's available
Digital textbooks contain a combination of textbooks, reference books, workbooks, dictionaries and multimedia content such as video clips, animations, and virtual-reality programmes that can be tailored to students' abilities and interests. Students can underline sections, take notes, reorganise pages and create hyperlinks to online material.
Teaching should occur across numerous media; TV, Laptops, tablets, interactive whiteboards etc.
